London, 22/09/2013. This weekend, thousands of people queued to visit the iconic Battersea Power Station for the last time before its redevelopment. The old power station is one of 700 places that have been opened up to visitors as part of the Open House Project. The final, multimillion-pound approved plan made by private Malaysian developers SP Setia and Sime Darby, will see the power station and the surrounding area redeveloped into 3500 exclusive flats, a new Northern line tube station, riverside park, High Street and other amenities. The decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Battersea, is considered by many to be an important heritage site, also recognised worldwide because of its appearance on the cover of Pink Floyd's 1977 album, Animals - http://bit.ly/1fc5Fx2 .
