To mark and commemorate the 70th anniversary of the atomic bomb dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima (6th August 1945), the London Region CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) held a Memorial in Tavistock Square. Every year a Ceremony (speeches, poetry, music and 2 minutes of silence) takes place in London to remember the victims of "Little Boy" (codename for the first atomic bomb to be used as a weapon dropped on Hiroshima by the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, piloted by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets Jr., commander of the 509th Composite Group of the United States Army Air Forces) by the cherry tree planted in 1967 by the then Mayor of Camden, councillor Millie Miller.
