London, 15/05/2017. Today, members of the "Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners" installed a memorial plaque "to celebrate the life and achievements of Mark Ashton". The inscription is placed above "Gay's The Word" bookshop in Marchmont Street. Mark Ashton (1960-1987) was a gay rights activist, a communist, a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain and the founder of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners. In 2014, his life and achievements became a movie called 'Pride' (Pathé 2014).<br />
