Pier Luigi Bersani, leader of the PD (Partito Democratico) and candidate as Prime Minister of Italy for the center-left coalition, attends a press conference concerning the results of the Italian General Election (24/25 February). The PD, despite the pre-electoral polls, won just the lower house (Camera dei Deputati, seats: 345 PD; 125 PDL; 109 M5S) but failed to obtain a workable majority in the Senate (Senato della Repubblica, seats: 123 PD; 117 PDL; 54 M5S), leading Italy to a deadlock.
