Today, Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) held a peaceful demonstration on Westminster Bridge - outside the Houses of Parliament - 'to remember the victims of welfare reform' and to call for an end of sanctions and benefit cuts to disabled people while the British Prime Minister, Theresa May, was holding the first Prime Minister's Questions since the summer recess. We will be calling on the new Prime Minister to make public the findings of the UN investigation into the UK for violations of Deaf and Disabled people's rights, to scrap the Work Capability Assessment and commit to preventing future benefit-related deaths […]>>. The demonstration started around 12:15pm with banner drop outside St. Thomas' Hospital which faces the Houses of Parliament. Then, protesters moved the banner on Westminster Bridge creating a peaceful roadblock which ended around 3pm. The demonstration was part of the DPAC Week of Actions.
