Spinelli, who took USA & British think tanks as a model: he created a flexible private organization, distinct from university institutes & governmental or ministerial research centers, yet capable of inter-acting & cooperating with governments, public administrations, national economic actors and foreign academic centers; Tocci is Editor of The International Spectator & Special Adviser to EU HRVP Federica Mogherini; she is honorary prof. at the University of Tübingen; former Director, member of the Compensation Committee & of the Committee of Independent Directors at Edison SPA). Discussants at the event were Sven Biscop (Director of the Europe in the World Programme at Egmont; Prof. at the College of Europe in Bruges & at LUISS in Rome; he is member of the Executive Academic Board of the EU's Security and Defence College, ESDC) & Ben Tonra (Jean Monnet Professor of European Foreign, Security and Defence Policy at University College Dublin). Chair of the event was Karen Smith (Prof. of International Relations & Director of the European Foreign Policy Unit at LSE). From the event page: <<Undoubtedly Brexit has dealt a major blow, both to the UK's role in the world & that of the EU. As one if not the Member State with the most global outlook, the damage done both in terms of material capacities & reputation cannot be underestimated. At the same time some argue that the UK's exit from the EU would facilitate integration in the security & defence field. What are the prospects for the implementation of the EU Global Strategy following the UK referendum?>><br />
