Rome, 27/01/2020. Today is the International Holocaust Day, also called Holocaust Memorial Day in UK & Italy. A day designated by the UN General Assembly resolution 60/7 on 1 November 2005 to remember the victims of the Holocaust: 6 million Jews, 2 million Gypsies (Roma & Sinti), 15,000 homosexual people, and millions of others killed by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The 27th of January (1945) marks the day of the liberation by the Soviet Union Army of the largest death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau (75th Anniversary). To coincide with the Holocaust Memorial Day the Theater and Kunst Diletta Benincasa Foundation - Berlin (1.), supported by the Biblioteca di Storia Moderna e Contemporanea (Palazzo Mattei), promoted the event called "Displaced" curated by Patrizia Bisci (2.). From the organizers press release: «The project unfolds in a path inside the old ghetto of Rome and materializes in installations, works and performances. […] the world of experiences and experimentation of the artists will thus become the ideal basis for understanding collective history. In fact, "Displaced persons", a historical name with both positive and negative value, is the theme in memory of the history of Europe, when at the end of the Second World War the extermination camps were freed by the armies of the allies. Eleven million prisoners, among whom only a few thousand surviving Jews, no longer knew where to return. The houses, their lives were destroyed, occupied by others. Where to return? […]».
