London, 14/03/2014. Tony Benn, former Labour cabinet minister and leading left-wing campaigner, has died at home aged 88.<br />

London, 08/10/2011. Today Trafalgar Square was the stage of the “Antiwar Mass Assembly” organised by The Stop The War Coalition to mark the 10th Anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. Thousands of people gathered in the square to listen to speeches given by journalists, activists, politicians, trade union leaders, MPs, ex-soldiers, relatives and parents of soldiers and civilians killed during the conflict, and to see the performances of actors, musicians, writers, filmmakers and artists. The speakers, among others, included: Jeremy Corbin (Labour MP, elected member of the Stop the War Coalition steering committee), Joe Glenton (British Army Lance Corporal and war resister, imprisoned for refusing to fight in Afghanistan), Seumas Milne (British journalist and writer, columnist and associate editor at The Guardian), Brian Eno (English musician, composer, record producer, singer and visual artist), Sukri Sultan and Shadia Edwards-Dashti (students against the war), Hetty Bower (106-year-old anti-war campaigner), Mark Cambell (University & College Union), Sanum Ghafoor (Activist Video Blogger), Andrew Murray (deputy president of the Stop the War Coalition), Lauren Booth (English broadcaster, journalist and pro-Palestinian activist), Kate Hudson (UK academic and political activist, currently the General Secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament), Sami Ramadani (senior lecturer in sociology at London Metropolitan University and once political refugee of Saddam Hussein’s regime), Yvone Ridley (British journalist, war correspondent and Respect Party activist), Mark Rylance (English actor, theatre director and playwright), Dave Randall (Faithless and Slovo guitarist, producer and composer), Roger Lloyd-Pack (English actor), Rebecca Thorn (Singer and musician), Sanasino al Yemen (Spoken word artist and poet), Elvis McGonagall (Scottish p
