The President of the People's Republic of China (General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission), Xi Jinping, meets the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte at Villa Madama during the second day of a three-day State visit to Italy. After the arrival of Xi Jinping greeted with the full honours at the splendid Renaissance Villa designed by Raffaello Sanzio, the Chinese delegation and the Italian delegation led by the Luigi Di Maio (Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic development, Labour and Social Policies, and leader of the Five Star Movement) signed a memorandum of understanding - 29 separate protocols - supporting the "Belt and Road" initiative (part of the "New Silk Road Project") as the first of the Seven major economies in the world. Luigi Di Maio stated that "the value of individual deals signed amounts to about 2,5 billion euros, with the potential to grow to about 20 billion euros".
