London, 25/10/2013. Today, Angela Davis delivered a lecture, "Freedom is a Constant Struggle: Closures and Continuities", for the Annual Law Lecture organised by the School of Law of Birkbeck University. Sharing the stage and delivering the second part of the session was Michael Mansfield QC (English barrister. A republican, vegetarian, socialist, and self-described "radical lawyer"). Angela Davis is an American political activist, scholar, and author. She emerged as a nationally prominent activist in the 1960s, as a leader of the Communist Party USA, and had close relations with the Black Panther Party through her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement despite never being an official member of the party. She is the founder of Critical Resistance, an organization working to abolish the prison-industrial complex. She is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness and Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.<br />
