Rome, 09/02/2019. Today, hundreds of thousands of people marched from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza San Giovanni for the National Demonstration "Futuro al Lavoro" (A word pun which means: Future At Work and A Future for Work) organised by the three main Italian Trade Unions: CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour, General Secretary Maurizio Landini, 1.), CISL (Italian Confederation of Workers' Trade Union, General Secretary Annamaria Furlan, 2.), UIL (Italian Labour Union, General Secretary Carmelo Barbagallo, 3.). The demonstration - the biggest held in Italy in the last 4 years (4.) - was called against the economic policies and the pensions reform made by the Italian coalition Government, League - Five Star Movement (Lega - Movimento 5 Stelle, 5.). The three General Secretaries jointly asked the Government to implement less cautious pro-growth policies, to make a massive publicly and privately funded investments program, and to properly fight against poverty, and unemployment especially for the young people. In the fourth quarter of 2018 Italian economy contracted, leading the third-largest economy of the European Union into "technical recession".<br />
