Rome, 17/02/2018. Today, in contemporary with the march held in Strasbourg, thousands of people marched from Piazza dell'Esquilino to Fori Imperiali for the national demonstration in support and solidarity with the Kurdish people resisting and fighting in the Kurdish-held Syrian enclave of Afrin against the ongoing Turkish military campaign, and to call for the immediate release of the PKK leader Abdullah 'Apo' Ocalan held, since 1999, in the Turkish prison of İmralı island, in the Sea of Marmara. <<[…] Since 27 July 2011 [Ocalan] lawyers have not been allowed to see Abdullah Öcalan anymore. The lawyers have appealed 700 times for visits, but all were rejected.
