This election is the first in which the European Parties presented their candidates running for President of the European Commission: Jean-Claude Juncker for the European People's Party, Martin Schulz for the Party of European Socialists, Guy Verhofstadt for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, Ska Keller and José Bové jointly for the European Green Party and Alexis Tsipras for the Party of the European Left. Circa 400 million European voters are called to elect the 751 MEPs representing the 28 member Countries. Dates of the Election: - 22.05: United Kingdom, Netherlands; - 23.05: Ireland; - 23/24.05: Czech Republic; - 24.05: Latvia, Malta, Slovakia, French Overseas Territories; - 25.05: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain.
