Today, the LSE (London School of Economics and Political Studies) presented a public lecture - part of the Centre for the Study of Human Rights and LSE Law UN International Human Rights Day public lecture - called "Fighting the Behemoth: law, politics and human rights in times of debt and austerity" hosted by Zoe Konstantopoulou (Greek Lawyer and Politician; former and youngest President of the Greek Parliament, position held from the 6th of February 2015 to the 4th of October 2015; former member of the Coalition of the Radical Left, Syriza, and now independent supporting Popular Unity; she holds a law degree from the University of Athens, a Master in Law from Columbia University with a focus on International Law, Human Rights and Criminal Law and a DEA from the University of Paris la Sorbonne in European Criminal Law and Criminal Policy in Europe; she is a member of the Athens and New York Bars; she is the daughter of renowned lawyer Nikos Konstantopoulos, leader of one of Syriza's largest factions, and well-known journalist Lina Alexiou). Chair of the event was Doctor Margot Salomon (Associate Professor in the Law Department and the Centre for the Study of Human Rights where she directs the multidisciplinary Laboratory for Advanced Research on the Global Economy, Lab).
