Rome, 25/01/2019. Today, hundreds of people gathered outside the Italian Parliament (Piazza Montecitorio), and in more than 100 square across Italy, to hold a candlelit vigil marking the third anniversary of the disappearance of Giulio Regeni. Regeni was an Italian Cambridge University graduate (PhD student at Girton College, Cambridge) who was kidnapped, tortured and killed in Egypt while he was researching Egypt's independent trade unions. The body of the 28-year-old Cambridge PhD student was found on a Cairo road on Wednesday 3rd of February 2016. According to the autopsy, Giulio died after a vertebra in his neck was fractured. Moreover, his body - found on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road - shown signs of tortures, abrasions - including marks similar to cigarette burns - and fractures. After three years of disinformation, "depistaggi", reticence, misdirections, the role of the Cambridge University and the role of the Egyptian regime of the President Al-Sisi, after three years of very difficult investigations for the Italian Police, the Regeni's family, Amnesty International and thousands of people are still calling for the immediate truth about this brutal assassination.
