Rome, 13/02/2019. Today, a candle light vigil was held in Piazza dell'Esquilino (1.) to call for the immediate release of the Roman Jesuit priest Paolo Dall'Oglio, and also of the release of the alleged "thousands foreign and Syrian hostages" still allegedly kept as prisoners by the so called Islamic State (AKA ISIS; Islamic State of Iraq and Syria - alternatively translated as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham; IS; ISIL; Daesh; Daish; Islamic State group) in Syria's Deir ez-Zor Governorate. From the organisers Facebook page: <<[…] we will light candles for them, a symbol of believers and non-believers, to say we do not forget them. […] We will do it […] in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore [because it is] a place chosen as a sign of affection and gratitude for the profound faith of our friend Paolo, Jesuit and monk, founder of the Comunitא di Mar Musa (2.). We do it now due to the plausible but unconfirmed rumors which report that he is hypothetically still alive […]>>. Padre Paolo Dall'Oglio is a Jesuit priest and a peace activist who was first exiled from Syria by Bashar al-Assad Government in 2012 due to have met members of the opposition and to have been publicly criticizing the regime during the war in Syria. Then, on the 29th July 2013, Padre Paolo Dall'Oglio (3.) was allegedly kidnapped by the Islamic State, ISIS/Daesh, in the Eastern Syria city of Raqqa.
