more »Rome, 27/06/2018. Today, Officine Zero OZ held a public meeting called "Public, Private & Community". The aim of the event was to inform and discuss with other organizations, journalists, members of the public the Eviction order recently delivered to Officine Zero and the future private plan for the OZ area (via Umberto Partini 20) and the entire district of Casalbertone/Tiburtina. From OZ Facebook event page: <<What will happen to Oz Officine Zero? And to Casalbertone, Portonaccio and Pietralata? The story that has seen us involved seems to have come to an epilogue with the arrival of the eviction order. The future of more than 40 workers and their urban regeneration project from below is increasingly connected with the fate of a territory and the transformation plan that is about to hit it. We call a public meeting because in this city, and in this district, there is a very strong need for a public discussion starting from the need to rebuild together an 'urban plan' that sees large private companies as protagonists, while public institutions are obscure and confined to endorse their strategies. Mainly, we are interested in starting an open and concrete discussion on some key points about the relationship between public, private and those communities that in Rome constitute the 'backbone', the framework of the civil society which are often marginalized, sometimes even deleted, from the decision-making process [...]>>...
