London, 12/10/2015. Today, the LSE (London School of Economics and Political Studies) a public lecture - part of the Department of International Development public lecture - called "Is Africa Rising: a personal perspective from…" hosted by Winnie Byanyima (Ugandan aeronautical engineer, politician, and diplomat; Executive Director of Oxfam International; she founded Forum for Women in Democracy - FOWODE, a leading NGO in Uganda; She has served at the African Union Commission and at the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, as Director of Gender and Development; she served as a member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the Ugandan 1995 Constitution, and she served two consecutive terms as a member of the Ugandan Parliament representing Mbarara Municipality, from 1994 until 2004). Chair of the event was Dr Duncan Green (Senior Strategic Adviser at Oxfam, author of "From Poverty to Power", Professor in Practice of International Development at LSE and he is visiting fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex).<br />
