Rome, 25/10/2019. Today, a general strike was held in the Italian Capital to protest against the Mayor Virginia Raggi's Administration policies and way of governing Rome, the immobilism and the "degrado" (Urban decay) in which the city is allegedly living, and the alleged "poor management" of the 18 municipal companies (Aziende Municipalizzate di Roma), including ATAC (Bus, metro, tram and light rail lines) and AMA (waste collection company), schools and social services. The 24-hour industrial action follows the Raggi's Administration announcement of the "liquidation" of Roma Metropolitane, the Company which oversees the project and the realization of the third line of the Metro of Rome, the so called Metro C. These photos show the demonstration held at Piazza del Campidoglio, outside the City Hall of Rome, by Trade Unions: CGIL, CISL, UIL, UGL and numerous other organizations of citizens and consumers living and working in Rome.
During the demonstration, the Mayor Virginia Raggi reacted to the strike via the social network Twitter: "A minority of trade unionists are trying to hold hostage a city of 3 million residents: they workers, mothers and fathers who take their children to school every day, students and commuters. The majority of citizens are tired of unjustified strikes" (1.).
