Rome, 14/10/2017. Today, Rete dei Numeri Pari and Libera Contro le Mafie held a demonstration in Don Bosco's Square - demo organised contemporary in several other squares across Italy - called "Ad Alta Voce Contro Povertà e Disuguaglianze" (Aloud Against Poverty & Inequality).
The demonstration was called to protest against poverty and inequality "caused not by the absence of richness or growth, but due to the redistribution of richness, industrial models, taxes and social policies. Moreover, Italy and the UK have got the highest number of precarious workers and the worst level of inequality in Europe. In this kind of situation, criminal organizations, such as the mafia(s), have got more power of penetration and 'blackmailability' in a Society which became poorer, fragile and scared. […] After so many years of austerity and crisis - similar to what has already happened in Portugal, Greece and Spain - we have understood that just through a mass movement of citizens and an alliance - a network - of the social movements who daily fight against mafia and poverty, who welcome migrants and people in need, who fight for social and human rights and for housing, will be possible to upturn the situation and make Social Justice back in the centre of our Society […]".
