In addition to welcoming and exhibiting the works of historical collections passed to the State and the numerous antiquities that emerged from the works of adaptation of Rome to its new role as Capital of the Kingdom of Italy, the Museum was intended to increase the historical and artistic heritage of the city and contribute with it in the most effective way to the increase of culture.
