Today "Life Not Money at the LSE" held a demonstration outside the London School of Economics and Political Science to protest against "the pay and conditions of the lowest paid workers at the school". From the organiser Facebook event page: <<Noam Chomsky has send us a message to say the campaign is "important and courageous". […] The Life not Money campaign demand for a significant £100,000 cut in LSE director’s pay and the money to be used improve the pay and conditions of the lowest paid workers at the school. The last director got around £500,000 while some workers get as little as £8/hour taking into account unpaid breaks. The UVW trade union campaign has exposed a trail of abuse and humiliation experienced by LSE cleaners while the schools excludes working class students so as to accept the off springs of the world's elites. Public institutions such as LSE should be accountable to the general public not a get rich quick scheme for corporate managements. This protest is part of a series of creative events involving the decorating of walls with flowers and balloons and statements. […] There have also been peaceful acts of open civil disobedience – putting washable chalk on the buildings which has led to arrests and bail conditions. […] Life not Money is a pop up public campaign to bring people together who are want to take effective and creative action on gross inequality and corruption in our public institutions […]>>. The main banner of the protest stated: "You can imprison us but the real crime is inequality".
