London, 13/04/2017, Today, "Help4Refugee Children" and "Stand Up To Racism" held a demonstration outside Downing Street in support and solidarity with the people of the Grande-Synthe Dunkirk Camp which was destroyed in a fire the night between the 10th and 11th of April 2017. The camp housing more than 1,500 migrants in northern France was destroyed in a fire that officials said began during a fight between Afghans and Kurds. From the organisers Facebook event page: <<It has now been confirmed that 80% of shelters have burnt in the Dunkirk Refugee Camp, destroying possessions and making 1500 residents of the camp homeless. Approximately half of population affected are now being housed in three nearby gymnasiums, providing safety and shelter for the remaining residents is still undecided. We have one simple request, let these families into the UK. Enough is enough, many have already suffered the demolition of the Calais Camp which they call home. These families have been through enough trauma. These children need a safe passage NOW! […]>>.<br />
