Perugia - Assisi (Umbria, Italy), 07/10/2018. Today, tens of thousands of people (100,000+ people and 15 km long procession for the organisers) attended the "Marcia Perugia - Assisi della Pace e della Fraternità" (March Perugia - Assisi for Peace and Brotherhood/Sisterhood-Fraternity). This historical event of about 25 km was launched by the Italian Philosopher and Anti-fascist Aldo Capitini (1.) in 1961 to fight for Peace and Brotherhood of Peoples, and against racism, violence and injustice. Flavio Lotti, one of the organiser and coordinator of the event stated: "We are calling for the 'Riace's Model' (2.) for the Nobel Peace Prize. We are not referring to people in particular and we do not want to personalize the issue, but as the organizing committee of the march we propose the the next Nobel [Peace Prize] be given to a model of reception, integration and solidarity which helps and works for everyone and responds to the values to which the march it has always been inspired" (Source - Il Fatto Quotidiano,

The March in 2018 marked the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 100th anniversary of the end of the World War I and the 50th anniversary of the death of Aldo Capitini (19 October 1968), the man who launched in 1961 the first edition of the March Perugia - Assisi.
