more »Rome, 09/06/2019. Today, Spin Time Labs was the stage of the intense theater opera: "U Parrinu – My Story With Padre Pino Puglisi Killed By The mafia". The independent production is written by and stars Christian Di Domenico, who first met Don Pino as a child. He has performed the piece 520 times in various locations (1. 2.). The 'Blessed' Catholic Priest Giuseppe 'Pino' Puglisi was killed on the evening of 15 September 1993, on the day of his 56th birthday by the Sicilian mafia "cosa nostra". Variously known as Don Pino Puglisi, Padre Pino Puglisi, 3P, U' Parrinu, amongst others, he was murdered outside his home in the Palermitan neighborhood of Brancaccio, were he was born to a modest-working-class family and where, since 1990, he had worked as the Priest of San Gaetano's Parish. In Brancaccio, Don Pino is known for working tirelessly to rescue underprivileged children and teenagers (more info here: 3.).
Spin Time Labs (4.) is in Rome and it is a "Common good, urban regeneration project, multi-purpose cultural center: concert hall, conference hall, courses, theater, tavern, craft beer laboratory, carpentry, laboratories. [It organises] initiatives for children and social assistance activities". The former Inpdap HQ, abandoned for years, was occupied in 2013 and today houses 150+ families, in other words more than 430+ people, including hundred minors, 60% of whom are immigrants of 18 different nationalities and the rest are elderly and young Italian couples.
