Rome, 15/06/2018. Today, an estimated 200 residents of Trastevere (one of the historical and most traditional areas of central Rome) protested in Piazza Trilussa against the bad conditions (especially during night time) of their famous district and the "dictatorship of noise". Lead by "Vivere Trastevere" (residents organization), they argue that their quality of life has been eroded by the urban decay and neglect caused by the "wild movida". This state of decline, excessive tourism, endless noise, a large number of foreign students (especially Americans as showed in placards and posters), mafie, streets used as toilets and/or rubbish dumps, separate waste collection which does not work properly, traffic congestions, unregulated B&B, gentrification, brawls, binge - in other words the "degrado" - are damaging the atmosphere and the environment of Trastevere, they are not letting residents sleeping at night and, in several cases, driving them away.
