Heavy police presence was met with indignation especially in Trafalgar Square, which was literally divided in two using the steel riot walls (metal cordons) built to prohbit the protesters reaching Whitehall. At around 15:00, dozens of protesters stormed the office of the mining company XStrata in Panton Street (near Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square) but they were quickly evicted by police officers. 20 arrests were made.
