Rome, Italy. 29th January, 2025. Today, the Grassroots Trade Union USB (Unione Sindacale di Base, 1.) - supported by students, movements, organizations and citizens - held an emergency demo outside the Prefecture of Rome in Piazza Santi Apostoli. The aim of the demo was to highlight the unbearable situation of Migrant People queuing during winter nights’ cold for documents and papers in front of the Police Headquarters offices in Rome, Foreigners Office in Via Patini, awful situation which led - on the night between 28 and 29 of January 2025 - to the death of an unknown Migrant Person - allegedly an elderly Person from Romania (State member of the EU).  <br />
From the Organiser Facebook page: «[…] We confirm the information in our possession regarding the terrible death that occurred tonight in front of the Immigration Office of the Rome Police Headquarters, which comes from the direct testimonies of migrants queuing at the offices. The situation has already been repeatedly reported by USB Migranti: dozens of people queuing every night, under the elements, to access what is their Right. [...] The Police HQ informed us that he was an EU citizen, not an asylum seeker, but we are not interested in the nationality or status of the deceased man: what happened is simply unacceptable […]» (2.).<br />
