To mark this special day for the Italian Capital the Musei Capitolini displayed - at Palazzo dei Conservatori, Sala degli Arazzi - for the first time a glass fragment decorated with a gold effigy of the Dea Roma (Goddess Rome). «[…] During the ongoing works for the construction of the Porta Metronia Metro C station, a glass fragment was found, originally the bottom of a glass or cup, showing the image of the personification of the city of Rome portrayed on gold leaf and represented, according to widespread iconography, with a helmet and lance. The excellent workmanship of the piece was immediately evident, datable to the 4th century, so during the Imperial Age. It is also a unique piece, as no other glass has been found decorated with this iconography […]» (3.).
