Rome, Italy. 01st Feb, 2025. Today, people gathered in Piazza dell’Esquilino along with the organization "Sanitari Per Gaza" (Healthcare Workers For Gaza) in solidarity with the People of Gaza, Palestine and Lebanon. The aims of the demo were to request the immediate release of paediatrician and neonatologist, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya (1.), Director Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the last functioning hospitals in Gaza; call for the immediate release of the detained medical personnel in accordance with international humanitarian law; condemns Israel's systematic and deliberate targeting of healthcare facilities and personnel in Gaza; expresses solidarity with all those working to provide medical care and humanitarian aid in Gaza; to be against the Israeli asymmetric war on Gaza which already killed 46000+ Palestinians including 18000+ children; in support of a proper ceasefire; to call EU countries to immediately stop selling weapons to Israel.<br />
On the 7 Oct. 2023, a large-scale-invasion of Israel (Operation Al-Aqsa Flood) was launched by the Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas from the Gaza Strip. Consequently, an asymmetric war (Operation Swords of Iron) was declared by Israel against the People of the Gaza Strip which killed at least 46565+ people (including 18000+ children, with over 109660+ injured (reported by the Gaza health ministry, 12.01.25, 2.). The Israelis killed in the Hamas attack are 1200+, 3400 wounded, 240+ abducted.<br />
Gaza: 2.3ca million people; 140ca square miles; one of the most densely populated places in the world.<br />
Ceasefire between Israeli Armed Forces IDF and Hamas fighters has begun on the 19th January 2025.<br />
